DOC releases its first Digital Distribution Report on Canadian documentary. The report establishes benchmarks for the performance of Canadian documentaries on broadcaster portals; charts how Canadian documentaries perform on iTunes; and tracks how many views NFB.ca receives worldwide and the number of views they draw on mobile devices with their apps. Katie McKenna appointed interim Chair of the Documentary Organization of Canada

Toronto, September 27th, 2011 - The Documentary Organization of Canada/l'Association des documentaristes du Canada (DOC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie McKenna as interim Chair of the organization. Ms. McKenna took over the position on September 1, 2011 from John Christou, of Prospector Films, who stepped down after leading the board of directors for close to 3 years

With the support of documentary, CBC’s digital channel, DOC is launching a second cycle of Giving Voice: Filmmakers Working With Filmmakers, a Masters’ Apprenticeship program aimed at supporting up to 8 apprentices from across the country. The call for submissions is now available on DOC's site, those interested are encouraged to contact DOC.

The call for submissions for CBC'S digital channel documentary and DOC | Documentaristes du Canada's apprenticeship program is now open! Giving Voice: Filmmakers Working with Filmmakers is the opportunity for up to 8 Canadian documentary professionals to apprentice with a seasoned documentary filmmaker on a specific project. Getting Real III was commissioned by the Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) with the financial support of the National Film Board of Canada, the Ontario Media Development Corportaiton, Telefilm Canada, B.C. Film and the Canadian Independent Video Fund. Launch support was provided by Rogers Group of Funds. The report, the third of a series, provides a clear and timely view of the economics of the documentary industry in Canada, highlighting the key trends, opportunities and challenges impacting the genre today.
